The Men's Club is a salient auxiliary arm of the Synagogue and serves as social and cultural meeting place for the men of the congregation. It's monthly Sunday morning minyan service followed a bagel- and lox breakfast, is a prelude to the meeting of the club's membership.
Over the years, the club has sponsored and undertaken many projects for the benefit of the Synagogue and the community. Just to mention a few, the club sponsored a boys scout troop; a boys baseball team; new year's eve parties; initiated and held Bingo games for the Synagogue; sponsored full feature films; served as hospital volunteers during the Christian holidays to relieve staff so that they could spend time with their families; educational and social outings to such places as Scott Airforce Base and evenings at the ball park; helped initiate the University City Fair in the Square project and worked collectively and individually in the annual running of the booths. The lower Mirowitz auditorium Bema (altar) was designed and paid for by the Men's Club. Additionally, the club sponsored and co-sponsored with the Women's League speakers and cultural events.
The Men's Club has always been youth oriented and devoted to the educational welfare of our children. The club presents Siddur Sim Shalom on the occasion of each child's Bar or Bat Mitzvah. It is given with a lifetime guarantee that if the child should wear out the book with normal use, the Men's Club will replace it free of charge. The club's presentation of confirmants with mezzuzahs and/or Bibles as well as Chanukah candles to the Sunday School children, is further evidence of their dedication to the congregation.
The club is represented by the president of the club on both the Synagogue executive board and the board of directors, so that the Men's Club has a direct voice in the operation of the Synagogue.
Finally, the Men's Club is part of the worldwide Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs.
