Shaare Zedek United Synagogue Youth or “SZSL” (which stands for Shaare Zedek St. Louis) encompasses those in 9th through 12th grades. It is affiliated with United Synagogue Youth which is a division of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
SZSL is run by the Executive Board, and each month we hold one or two lounge nights, a USY Shabbat, and one or two additional programs. We have events ranging from social action projects and Lunch n’ Learns to Demolition Ball and cosmic bowling to skiing and float trips. At the end of the year, we hold our Chapter Membership Training when we travel to the Ozarks for a few days and have some really great programming. We also participate in tri-chapter programs with the other St. Louis USY chapters. Another exciting opportunity for USYers is regional conventions throughout the year, offering the chance to travel around our region.
